U.S. Bancorp Wins Federal Purchasing-Card Contract

Homeland Security awarded the bank a one-year deal to provide purchasing cards to employees of its 22 agencies.

The Department of Homeland Security on Monday awarded U.S. Bancorp a one-year contract to provide employees of its 22 agencies with purchasing-card services worth an estimated charge volume of hundreds of millions of dollars.

U.S. Bancorp provides purchasing-card services to the Department of Defense, the U.S. Postal Service, the Department of Health and Human Services, and the Executive Office of the President.

U.S. Bancorp and four other financial institutions--Citigroup, J.P. Morgan Chase, Bank of America, and Mellon Financial--have been providing commercial-card services including travel, purchasing, and fleet cards to government agencies since 1998.
