@mak63 yes, for carpet, you need the Roomba, which has been around for several years, but still costs 3 figures.

Full self-driving automation
I'd like to see those cars deployed and on the road ASAP. So, we can start avoiding accidents and saving lives. Unless, of course, those self-driving cars make the same mistakes as we do.

For the 2015 finals in Pomona, Calif., in June, robots will not only need to drive a car but exit the vehicle and then deal with challenges common at the site of a disaster, such as lifting debris, turning off valves, and cutting through walls

It's not a lot of time for that, is there?

The O-Duster looks very practical and affordable, but it's only for flat floors. Not very useful for people with rugs, like me actually.

Robots are getting pretty cheap nowadays, especially if robotic floor cleaners qualify. O-cedar has a sweeper model that sellf for under $24.  It's favored by pet owners who get tired of sweeping up hair.
