Christmas is coming early for science fiction fans and Star Wars fanatics, as the latest chapter in the space opera hits theaters Friday, Dec. 18, surrounded by an almost unimaginable level of anticipation.

With many fans still trying to forget the CGI, slapstick-fueled messes that were the last three Star Wars films, director JJ Abrahams is looking to get the series back on track with The Force Awakens, which hearkens back to the practical effects found in George Lucas's original trilogy.

However, what will remind Star Wars fans of the three prequel films is the inevitable crush of marketing, promotional tie-ins, and merchandise available for purchase.

While much of it is clearly aimed at children and teenagers, there is plenty of demand for other types of Star Wars swag, pitched at those of us who are (probably) a bit too grown up for action figures, but who are also totally stoked by the idea of a Chewbacca bathrobe, lightsaber pizza cutters, and Stormtrooper oven mitts.

The following is a list of 10 items that could be perfect gifts -- or stocking stuffers -- for your friends and loved ones. Almost all of the items are very affordably priced and serve some practical purpose.

While we still have to wait and see if Star Wars fans are going to get the films we've been waiting so long for, rest assured that the items in this slideshow are guaranteed crowd pleasers.
