October 31 is only a week away, which means it's time for our annual review of the geekiest, techiest, spookiest Halloween costumes for 2015.

While superhero costumes are our go-tos, this year we're eschewing them and opting for the ones that will warm your Sci-Fi obsessed hearts.

Classic sci-fi TV and movies never get old, so we're bringing your some options inspired by Dr. Who, Star Trek, Star Wars, and even Ghostbusters. Of course, there are always a few totally out-of-the-box ideas that people rock every Halloween. Those are the best.

If you didn't catch last year's list, we encourage you to check it out as well, because as you can imagine, trends come and go. It is always fun to see what was on our minds a year ago.

We picked our 13 favorites from this year's crop of Halloween costumes. Why 13? Well, because it is a scary number, of course. Check out these ideas, tell us if you'll be choosing one for your Halloween costume, and share your plans with us in the comments section below.

I like the Lego Captain America, well any Lego mini-fig could look geeky cool. As for the flying Superman, what's great about this is not only the fact that it works well for a kid in a wheelchair but that it looks fairly simple to put together. I learned this year about an organization called MagicWheelchair that makes very elaborate costumes for kids in wheelchairs. Each one takes upwards of 100 hours of work, though, so they can only produce 3. That means the most applicants won't get one. When I saw it, I thought it would be nice to also have instructions for simpler costumes that parents can make themselves.
