With August right around the corner, the apex of summer heat is nearly upon us, offering an incentive to escape to a breezy beach, secluded mountain hideaway, or perhaps somewhere more exotic. No matter where you go, there is a certain set of gadgets you should have at the ready.

From smartphones to drones, geeks on vacation usually can't completely cut the cord, and with our collective obsession with email, social media, and a general addiction to the internet, keeping yourself connected is part of the vacation package deal in this day and age.

But aside from the spare battery packs, fitness trackers, and waterproof mini boom boxes, there is a whole ecosystem of more interesting gadgets that could add to your vacation in ways you perhaps hadn't expected.

Take for example the CliMate, a pocket-sized gadget -- and successful Kickstarter concept -- that tracks the humidity, UV rays, and temperature (HUT) of your immediate environment, wherever you are, allowing you to soak up the sun -- in moderation -- without putting your skin at risk.

Great List
Great list, and good for most vacations. I especially liked the battery charger and Tile tracker. I know I will date myself, but when we used to hit the beach in the summer, the only electronics we had was a portable am/fm radio. Simplier times, not necessariily better, but easier.

Sync and protect
This is a pretty good list. However, I think the Climate sounds a little silly. It's nice to see data used in this way, but I don't think the device is worth 45 of my dollars.
