The city of Carrollton, Texas, signed a $30 million outsourcing contract extension with Affiliated Computer Services on Monday.

Under the seven-year extension, ACS will continue to, among other things, operate the city's data center and help desk, provide application and network support, and manage desktop hardware and software.

ACS will also operate the Dallas suburb's health and safety systems, including its computer-aided emergency-dispatch terminals. ACS books about $1.7 billion annually in sales of IT services to state and local governments.
