Brief: Mozilla Postpones Firefox 2.0 Beta 2

The company didn't specify the reason for the weeklong delay, but it appears that several regression errors and other bugs must still be addressed.
Mozilla Corp. on Tuesday delayed the release of the second beta of its Firefox 2.0 browser by a week.

Firefox 2.0, which appeared as Beta 1 last month, was to shift into Beta 2 Aug. 8, but will now be posted Tuesday, Aug. 15 according to minutes of the company's weekly status meeting.

The minutes didn't explicitly spell out the reason for the delay, but by comments posted there, several regression errors and numerous other bugs still must be addressed.

However, Mozilla's release calendar still shows Firefox 2.0's scheduled ship date as Sept. 26.

Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X editions of Firefox Beta 1 can be downloaded from the Mozilla Web site.
