The PCI Express, PCI Express mini-card, the ExpressCard 34, and chipset were unveiled in Taipei on the eve of the Computex 2007 conference, which runs from June 5-9. The new products support Blu-ray and HD DVD content, and support either Microsoft Windows Vista or Windows XP.
Broadcom's new media PC products target mainstream PCs that are typically in the price range of $999 to $1,499. The new technology consumes about 2 watts of power. Broadcom partners with supporting products include Corel, CyberLink, Intel, and Microsoft.
The three add-in card formats include the BCM970012NB for PCI Express mini-cards; the BCM970012PQ for PCI Express desktops; and the BCM970012IC for ExpressCard 34. The chipset includes the BCM70010 and the BCM70012. All the products are in full production, and are priced at under $40 each in high volumes.
