Security-event management vendor ArcSight received about $3 million in funding this week from In-Q-Tel, a private venture group funded by the Central Intelligence Agency.

"Dealing with all of the disparate security systems, tens to hundreds of them in large organizations, and finding a way to get to the information they need all at once is ... probably the biggest problem out there," says Gayle von Eckartsberg, an In-Q-Tel VP.

ArcSight got the funding on the strength of its product and its great management team, she says. In April, ArcSight got $9.5 million in second-round funding led by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. Total funding to date is $28.5 million.
