Comic: Where Twitter And Reality Meet

How many of us do business with people we've only met through social media? This is what happens when we finally meet.

You are what you post.

Brian Moore is a cartoonist and illustrator. His first brush with the world of IT was a very part-time gig applying software patches on a TRS-80 Model III. The patches were about four lines long and arrived in the mail, typed on letterhead. He has since moved on to computers ... View Full Bio

Should have used FB instead
This comic would have been funnier if it was about Facebook instead of Twitter.  Then one of the parties could have an image of what she had for lunch on her face.

Re: Should have used FB instead
This is why I think meeting face to face is so important. I get the fact that Twitter is a powerful tool, and I use it too. The problem is that I don't think it helps people work together well since they don't fully know each other's nuances.

Although I'm sure there have been many times when these types of relationships have been successful, I'm not entirely sure for how long it could possibly go on without a face to face meeting.

You are right, It is actually very important , and as far I know people from Asia cannot have a deal remotely and they must meet in person to sign any potential deal.

Re: Should have used FB instead
This reminds me of the first time my daughter met her online friend in person. They met through a girls youth church group through their home school program. We got to the meeting place and the girls walked right past each other, neither of them recognizing the other. Then, when they finally figured it out it was very awkward, like they didn't have a thing to talk about. I almost expected them to pull out their phoned and start texting each other! ;)

@Stacey strange, but they were friends and could text each other but when they meet in person could not talk ? probably they are shy.

@ Nemos

That is exactly it. They talked online and over the phone just fine, but when they were face to face for the first time, they were both awkward and shy. They are past that now, but it was funny.

It would absolutely be more awkward...then you'd be wondering why they didn't even have their OWN cat for their picture...that would be a little weird... ;)

I am sure you are correct. It gets creepy though when they pretend they ARE their pets!

Stacey, you just wait until the robot pets reach the market. Then it will be funny to see how pet owners will be divided and a whole new FB set of pictures will start to appear in your newsfeed. :D -Susan

Stacey, they might be useful, though. Some people just need the company of the pet without the trouble of having to walk them or feed them, or anything. There are also pets for pets. -Susan

We are what we .......
I couldn't agree more with this phrase "you are what you post" and it remind me this one also "you are what you eat" and actually we can apply the above to many more other things that we regularly do. Like we are what we read, watch and so on .....

to make socialization easy
I cant help but think of a new app that flashes for me the last few tweets and the fb updates for a new person that I meet for the first time or after a long time. It will make socialization so much easy for less-social people like me.
