The Massachusetts Port Authority is deploying Image's BorderGuard software at Boston's Logan Airport. The software uses pattern and facial-recognition technology to try to match passengers to terrorist pictures stored in the Image BorderGuard system. The technology is also used to verify passenger documents, such as a driver's license or passport, using the same pattern and facial-recognition technologies.
NewsImage Automation Ltd., a maker of document-authentication and identity-verification software, has raised an additional $12 million in funding, which will be used to extend research and development activities, increase product production for airports and border patrol, and for sales and marketing purposes.
