More Outsourcing In Best Buy's Future?

CIO Marc Gordon this week left the company, and now sources say an outsourcing deal with Accenture may be on the table.
Marc Gordon, executive VP and CIO at Best Buy Co., has left the company to pursue other opportunities, a company spokeswoman confirmed this week. An announcement on Gordon's replacement is expected within the next two weeks. Gordon had been responsible for developing and implementing the IT and logistics strategy for the electronics retailer.

Best Buy may be looking to outsource more of its IT operations, sources say. Accenture is being considered for the contract, according to the sources. No details were available about which IT operations might be involved in such a deal. A Best Buy spokesperson wouldn't confirm or deny the deal.

In September, Best Buy said it was outsourcing its internal help-desk and problem-management services to EDS. To fulfill the deal, terms of which weren't disclosed, EDS planned to hire 50 workers at its services center in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
