Mozilla's Thunderbird 1.5 E-Mailer Closing On Final

Thunderbird RC2 fixes several bugs that testers spotted in the first release candidate, but doesn't add any additional features to the E-mail client's toolset.
Mozilla Corp. has rolled out the second Release Candidate (RC2) of Thunderbird 1.5, the e-mail client intended to complement the popular Firefox browser.

Thunderbird RC2, said Mozilla representatives, fixes several bugs that testers spotted in the first release candidate, but doesn't add any additional features to the e-mailer's toolset.

Thunderbird 1.5 includes a new automatic update feature, spell check that works as users type, support for podcasts and RSS, and user-defined actions such as automatically deleting potentially dangerous attachments.

In a recent staff meeting, Mozilla developers said that they hope to ship the final version early in 2006.

Thunderbird 1.5 RC2 can be downloaded from the Mozilla site in versions for Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X.
