Network Appliance Inc. is readying its Near Store ATA disk-based storage devices that can hold as much as 100 terabytes of data. The devices won't perform as well as its high-end systems based on Fibre Channel drives, but the company says the new PC-centric drives will make data available to users within 2 seconds. A basic configuration of 12 terabytes will cost about $200,000. The product is slated for spring availability.
