Pitney Bowes said Thursday it will acquire Firstlogic for about $50 million with the acquired firm to become a wholly-owned subsidiary that will operate within Pitney Bowes’ Document Messaging Technologies unit.

Pitney Bowes noted that it already owned 10 percent of Firstlogic, which supplies software and services used to improve data quality, mailing efficiency, and postal automation.

“Firstlogic’s extensive relationships with top tier system integrators and enterprise software vendors enhance our distribution network and accelerate our global expansion,” said Michael Critelli, chairman and CEO of Pitney Bowes, in a statement.

Employing about 400 persons, Firstlogic generated more than $55 million in revenue in 2004, Pitney Bowes stated.
