Red-M and Intel plan to develop the Genos software platform to support Red-M's Bluetooth devices as well as Intel's 802.11 wireless LAN systems. The Bluetooth standard is a short-range wireless transmission protocol with a low data rate. The 802.11 system is longer range and has a higher data rate. The companies also will collaborate on creating notebook and PDA devices that use Intel technology and support both the Bluetooth and 802.11 systems.
Wilson says Intel's investment will be used to accelerate Red-M's wireless networking strategy.
