The robots are coming
It's not surprising at all that service industries will be the first that are affected by robot workers.  If there is a middle man between a customer and fulfillment, then an AI or a robot can be useful.  If I know what I want say a hamburger and I'm capable of making the decisions needed to order a hamburger, why does someone else need to push a picture of a hamburger for me?  There is a gas station/convenience store chain that is newer in my area.  They have a pretty extensive food offering that uses kiosks for ordering.  The menu is on a touch screen, you build your order, verify the order then print a barcode that is scanned by the cashier while your food is being made.  That system works incredibly well and reduces the staff needed for the little restaurant they have in the store.  The next step would be automating the kitchen tasks which is a little bit tougher but it is not impossible.  Eventually the cost of kitchen staff will be higher than the cost of a machine that can make sandwiches and that will be the point we see fully automated restaurants take off.  There is a nearly fully automated hamburger restaurant in San Francisco that recently opened so that should be very interesting to watch.
