Sprint Creates Subsidiary For Enterprise Mobility

The subsidiary will offer consulting services to help enterprises determine which applications to mobilize and will help them design and create those systems, among other services.
Sprint Nextel said Thursday that it is creating a new subsidiary to enterprises become more mobile.

The cellular operator said the subsidiary, Sprint Enterprise Mobility will not only help enterprises moblize applications but also will help manage mobile assets.

"Most businesses recognize the potential that mobility solutions offer, but tell us they don't have the expertise or resources to tackle major deployments across multiple companies and operating systems," Len Lauer, Sprint's chief operating officer, said in a statement.

The subsidiary will offer consulting services to help enterprises determine which applications to mobilize and will help them design and create those mobile applications. It also will help them manage the mobile services, the company said in a statement.

The president of the subsidiary, Bill Halbert, said in a statement that the group will work with Sprint Nextel but also with other wireless providers, as well as systems integrators and even device vendors.
