TI To Meet Q2 Forecast, Says Analyst

Wireless, as expected, is the main growth driver.
SAN JOSE, Calif. — Look for a decent quarter from Texas Instruments Inc.

TI (Dallas), which is expected to announce its results on Monday (July 24), is projected to realize $3.708 billion in sales and EPS of $0.47 for the second quarter, according to American Technology Research Inc. (Greenwich, Conn.)

Wall Street is looking for 3.679 billion in sales and EPS of $0.47 in Q2.

TI itself guided for total revenue to $3.630-to-$3.780 billion and the semiconductor segment at $3.450-to-3,590 billion. "As we had previewed, wireless is the main driver for the strength," said analyst Satya Chillara of American Technology Research.

"Wireless has roughly 40 percent exposure in the semiconductor business," he said.

The outlook is upbeat. "Our Q3 estimates are at $3.928 billion in revenue with EPS of $0.49. Consensus is at $3.826 billion in revenue with EPS of $0.49," he said. "We believe TI has Nokia in the equation as well single chip cell phone helping its Q3 along with a huge DLP uptick."
