Vendors Rally Around Mobile Payment

Hewlett-Packard, Lucent Technologies, Oracle, Siemens, and Sun Microsystems have formed an alliance to simplify the process of using cell phones to make purchases. PayCircle will develop standard interfaces that support secure transactions from mobile devices. HP and Siemens are members of Mobey Forum, a similar consortium that involves several European financial-services firms.
