McDonald's Puts I.T. On Menu
McDonald's Corp.'s plan for renewed sales and profitability, presented at an analyst meeting last week, includes the use of E-learning to train employees more efficiently and a test of self-ordering kiosks to cut labor costs and speed service. While much of the strategy is low-tech--cleaner restaurants, new seasonings, and better buns--the company continues to experiment with IT, which is notable because it scrubbed a major network project last year and took a $170 million write-off.
