BYOD and IT
BYOD is really a big challenge for IT departments, but it also is an opportunity for the company if done right. As such, I think IT departments are going to have to approach the problem with several tools including things like Mobility as a Service, Custom App stores and creating thier own secureity apps for employees. The new 'build your own BYOD app' concept has some real advantages with compatibility, easy of use and flexibility. We are looking at developing our own app for our employees and doctors, using the Tigertext Tigerconnect API for HIPAA compliant texting and Dropbox integration, and I am sure that more and more companies will be looking at using this API as well and other that are coming on the market to address the BYOD and COPE data security requirments that enterprise business require. Re: IT still has a long way to go.
There are quite a number of difficulties that come along with the efforts of trying to establish and implement a mobile strategy. it is true that there are few approaches to the marketplace that are more important than implementing a mobile strategy and reaching customers on the go. it must support employees on the go as well as build mobile apps for customers. Both initiatives still have a long way to go when it comes to improving the IT department in all sectors.
