Better Expand the List of Training for the new workforce
Included in those training tips should be an English language proficiency class as well as Intro to American culture class since the great majority of IT labor will be imported guest workers from the Third World.  Corporate America is not interested in paying fair market wages to American citizes for the skill sets it claims it wants, nor does it want any employees not male or over age 25, which, during the current Depression 2.0 American economy will pretty much eliminate from the job pool anyone else possessing (or having recently acquired the allegedly needed skill sets).

Common Skills
What you are describing has to be true in any business for any IT team. You must be motivated to make your business successful, you must be able to speak the language of the business and know where IT can help, and you darn sure better know how to integrate.

My experience with your industry, which was in the early days of EHR and digitizing, was you were not interested in anyone who had not been in healthcare/insurance before. There seemed to be no belief that someone from manufacturing could translate their skills to healthcare. Hopefully your industry has changed in that regard. These skills you mention seems to acknowledge that, they transcend what business you came from and get to the heart of how good you are.

Translators
Meg, the word translator is an apt choice for the skillset you describe.  The need for translators on IT teams extends far beyond healthcare. If you're a great translator, that is a wonderful story to tell in IT interviews right now, in the age of digital business.
