I'm not a lawyer either but have worked with enough ERP software to understand their licensing. If Rimini had just remoted into the customer hosted test database, they would have been fine. I can't imagine why they thought they could host using the customer's license.

That's got to be one of the more ignorant things I've ever heard a major company do. I'd love to hear the internal reason why they thought they could get away with that. Usually if someone hosts for you, they purchase the needed licenses and then "rent" to you. You can't just assign license rights like that from customer to hosting company.

Seems like a mistake on Rimini's part to have initially hosted some instances in its own data center. However, if the software is in the data center of the company that purchased the licenses, it's hard to see how Oracle has a legal beef, right?
