"What's most interesting about salesforce.com's latest earnings call was what was not talked about: Microsoft and Mobile. First, Microsoft's Dynamics CRM product is very popular in the mid market segment although it is still a distant second to salesforce.com. Second, an all-cloud architecture doesn't work in the new world of Mobile. The new Microsoft, under Satya's leadership, is reinventing itself as a mobile-first company -- and more importantly an iOS and Android first company. Just since December, they have acquired or made investments in four mobile startups: Acompli, Sunrise, HockeyApp, and Cyanogen. If they bring that same energy and mobile-first mindset to Dynamics CRM, I expect we'll hear more about Microsoft as a serious challenger to salesforce.com."
