@D Henschen I also thought of the fact that analyzing the value of a tweet  was something a numbe SumAll started doing a few years ago. It's possible that IBM's value proporistion is somehow integrating that with every other part of the business picture and customer journey.

Another excuse for consutling?
Sounds a bit hypey to me. There have been aggregators of social data for a long time, too. NetBase, for instance, gathers up Twitter plus many other social signals. The real story is not in the feeds or collections of feeds, it's in the sophistication of the natural-language-processing and analysis.

This deal reminds of the Apple-IBM apps, which aren't really finished apps at all. They're starting points for consulting engagements that start with data integration. Ouch.
