Yalanand,

To Surmise its one thing if one is Young ,Carefree with Zero Responsibilities and has a Great Income to boot to Splurge on such Devices;but for other folks who have a lot of other responsibilities as well $850 is a lot of Money to spend on a Phone which can be accomplished just as easily with a $100 Phone(if you want to splurge you can easily buy a Phone with similar specs for $350-$400).

Why spend so much money unneccesarily on a Brand which is'nt even exclusive anymore?

As you must also have observed we live in Recessionary Times here a Dollar Saved is easily worth Two Dollars more earned. Its in times like these that Discretionary Incomes/Spending take a hit-I won't be surprised a bit if Samsung reports extremely Dissapointing Sales Figures on these latest Phones.

At the Lower end they are taking hits from Chinese/other Smaller Brands and at the Higher end they are taking massive Hits from Apple(Apple is reporting extremely good sales figures in Asia ;and since Mobile Shipments as a whole in Asia are stagnant ;its obvious that Apple is taking marketshare from the incumbent brands which in this case is Samsung).

What does Samsung need to do to stay in the Game?

Slash Spending on TV and  Paper Advertising (which anyways most Folks Delete via Tivo today) and cut Prices of their Phones accordingly.

That's the easiest way to stay involved in this game today.

@Ashu001:

Cyanogen CEO Kirk McMaster has been making a big deal recently about his company's plans to "take away Android from Google," as he put it at a recent meeting. He calls Google's control of Android a "tyranny" and most recently said Cyanogen plans on "putting a bullet through Google's head."

A recent Forbes profile of McMaster and Cyanogen suggests that a major part of that strategy involves an as-yet unannounced partnership with Microsoft. The idea would be to replace Google's Play Store and apps like Google search, Gmail and Google Maps on phones running the Cyanogen operating system with alternatives from Microsoft and a handful of other partners.

While that sort of Cyanogen-Microsoft alliance makes a lot of sense for both companies, any bullets it fires seems likely to be awfully slow moving.

Basically most flagship phones aren't that impressive nowadays. Except maybe the Microsoft Lumia series and Nexus series. Samsung isn't up to the game because what they do is that they ensure the market gobbles up everything they spew while at the same time trolling some of the Asian countries, like they introduced the S5 and Note 4 with dumbed down specs at double the price, which was outrageous, and really bloatwares are a headache on every samsung ever.

Shamika,

Are you referring to just the Hardware or the Phone as a whole?

As you might know (Article on Informationweek); The HTC phone has been a massive dissapointment.

The Same story will also apply to these Samsung Phones (as there is nothing new in them and the same Bloatware and delayed Patching Cycles continues to haunt them).

Even if you plan on buying one of these Phones I recommend waiting for atleast 6-8 months more when the Price will fall by atleast 40%(if not more) compared to what it is today.

Personally I am waiting for More Cyanogen Mod Phones to enter the Market ;Not heard of this OS?

And they got big-ticket backers too!

More here-recode.net/2015/02/09/cyanogen-tapping-tech-giants-to-build-war-chest-for-a-non-google-android & www.wealthx.com/articles/minisite-post/azim-premji-leads-us80-million-funding-round-for-mobile-os-cyanogen

The OS is awesome does'nt force to  be tied into Google's System/way of doing things and sharing your personal Data with the Googleplex.

Now that is definitely something to look forwards too...

Re: Samsung Galaxy S6, HTC One M9 Go On Sale April 10
Freespirit,

Sorry to dissapoint you but having actually test-driven both the Samsung phones documented in this article;I was personally most dissapointed with them.

They clearly are'nt worth the sticker-price(when One can get EXACTLY the same featureset for a fraction of the price amonsgt other Android Brands.)  and lets not forget that only in the US do we (Cellphone Consumers) get Carrier Subsidies ;Consumers everywhere else have to full-price for these Phones.

I can't tell you (as a Samsung Android Smartphone user for the last 3 Years); How dissapointed I was with these Latest Phones from them.

The same Terrible Samsung Bloatware(which most consumers don't use) populates these phones too and not just that as usual Samsung is PATHETICALLY SLOW upgrading Android and patching for Malware. As you must undoubtedly know Android SmartPhones are now getting attacked Mercilessly in the Online space by Malware writers so delaying their Patching Cycles is a SURE-FIRE way to ensure your Smartphone becomes part of a Bot Network-

securelist.com/blog/opinions/32425/we-need-more-than-jelly-bean-2  & securelist.com/blog/virus-watch/65459/android-worm-on-chinese-valentines-day & securelist.com/blog/virus-watch/67661/brazilian-trojan-bankers-now-on-your-android-play-store

And You know what's the worse part?

They come with Android Version 5.0.2;My Android One Phone which (I Purchased for just 100 Bucks and no Carrier Subsidy/Cellphone Contract to Boot) comes with Android  Version 5.1.

LOL!!!

When a 100 Dollar Phone can do absolutely everything that these fancy Samsung Phones(expected Retail Price will be about $800-$850 Internationally);why would anyone pay so much for a Phone just because it comes with a "Samsung" Label?

This is the primary reason why Samsung is losing market-share rapidly in the World's fastest Growing Markets like China,India and Africa.

Neither do they have the Exclusive appeal of the Apple Brand (for which consumers are willing to pay an extra premium).

Its not like Apple's Security is any better but atleast you know only one Company[Apple) is responsible for Patching Cycles and the moment they release the Patch EVERYONE gets it.Unlike with Samsung which delayes Patches forever.

I agree with you. In my opinion Samsung seems to be more powerful than HTC. What do you say about this?

I will be curious to see some reviews on these and what the differences are. The prices are close. In past years, HTC has certainly seemed to be the underdog to Samsung and Apple, I wonder if that will change with this next roll out.
