@Thomas, I'd be interestes if they pack at least one USB port. The Rockchip SoC isncludes native USB 2.0 support. Although USB 3.0 would be ideal, USB 2.0 will allow support for wireless keyboard+mouse combos, external HD, and SD card readers.

Nevertheless the product is still interesting based on the price point, size and power consumption. But you can get an Acer Chromebox for $129 at Amazon with wired keyboard+mouse, the only thing to add is the monitor.

Chromebit specs haven't been published but the speculation is that it will be similar to the other models: a Rockchip RK3288 quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage and 802.11ac Wi-Fi.

The price point for these Chromebooks is incredible. Despite some limitations, I would argue that these devices are approaching the functionality of some Windows laptops. Computer hardware is now in an era of fungibility.

Curious about the stick

Thomas, thank you for the information.

I've been using a Chromebook as my laptop since Oct. 2013. Originally I has one of the Samsung Chromebooks (v.1) and a few months ago I got an Acer Chromebook 13. My desktop now is another Acer Chromebox.

I still keep a Dell XPS laptop for some windows applications that I ocasionally use, but I found myself using them less and less as ChromeOS and the App store gives me what I need. Having a fast FTTH connection also helps.

I'm curious about the ASUS stick. I couldn't find any specs, but I see it as good alternative to a desktop computer if you already have a monitor with HDMI. I guess it will use BT for the keyboard and mouse.
