benefits of a virtual workforce
Curt it's a great story of how the virtual workforce community support an organization . I live close to Sussex County and I remember what it was like in New Jersey after Sandy . Being able to get work done without electricity and fuel was a challenge . Enabling employees to work from whatever location demonstrates excellent business continuity model . Hopefully other towns will use the same model for the benefit of the residents.

Beautiful Theory but...
Mobile access to a virtual desktop is a beautiful theory, however, my experience during a disaster (i.e. earthquakes on the west coast) has been such that even during a tiny little burp caused by the San Andreas faultline results in not being able to use my mobile at all because the network is overwhelmed.  If first responders are operating on the same channels as non first responders, the VDI will be worthless.
