Re: actually, there is more!
@StaceyE,

I'll be honest...I neither have had the need for it, nor have I missed it.

Because I'm able to switch from tablet and desktop mode, just using the mouse (I even unplugged the keyboard) is pretty sweet, since the virtual keyboard is both very responsive and not cumbersome to use.

I got a mouse that works like a wand (think the Nintendo Wii contorl but for a PC) and the combination is excellent.

This is great for media consumption...for everyday computing (IMHO) the touchscreen is a nice to have, but not essential (many folks who do have touchscreen say the same...at first it's great, but then the use is less and less since they go back to keyboard/mouse.

Hope this helps

I think you might be right. This is why I think I will ponder the decision a but longer before I take the plunge so to speak. ..

Thanks for your feedback. I might mull it around a bit Longer then give it a shot. Too bad it won't turn my monitor into a touch screen. ..haha.. I'd be in like Flynn!

Is this the number of downloads or downloads and installs?  I read different things according to different sources.  Then there must be a different number for download/install plus activation, correct?  I feel like MSFT might be using symantics to their advantage.

Re: actually, there is more!
@danieal,

I think the appeal of Windows 10 is that it wasn't force like windows 8 was.

Because it's free, folks can upgrade if they want, and I think for many this brings a certain vote of confidence towards Microsoft (it did for me)

If I remember correctly, Windows 10 will be available for free for the first year as an upgrade, and it'll then be made available for purchase separately.

@StaceyE,

I share your sentiment...until I decided to let the upgrade go through this morning.

I have dedicated PCs on my kids room for there media and cartoons...both running windows 10...and haven't had a single issue, granted the use is very light. The main aspect that I absolutly love is being able to run apps from the desktop. So know they can even play some of there Iphone/Android apps on the big screen...and they love it.

My main PC was still running Windows 7.... I was very very hesitant to upgrade in worry of compatibilty issues. But what made me take a leap of faith is the fact that  I can easilly roll back.

So I made some steps, created some backs, and hit the "Upgrade" button.

So I'll let you know in a week or two if I'm happy or not :)

I am still using Windows 7. I like it very much. Evwry time I turn on my PC I get a message that Windows 10 is ready to be installed on my PC for free...but I am very skeptical.

Re: actually, there is more!
I can't speak for everyone, but I've been hearing my wife complain about the Windows 8 preload on her laptop almost since it was purchased over a year ago.  She still prefers Windows 7 even to Windows 10, but the numbers of complaints have greatly diminished since she did the upgrade.

I think MS can take the numbers as a widespread repudiation of Windows 8.  Whether or not it is seen as an improvement over Windows 7, I have insufficient data to say.

actually, there is more!
today, a family friend paid us a visit and asked me "where do i buy a windows 10 and how much it is?". could not tell him, cause microsoft does no seem to sell it as independedent oem copy/serial for new pc(s) made from parts, refurbished or whatever. another friend asked me how to get read of mac os x el capitan and install windows 10 from scratch on his macbook pro. i told them both, buy it from a local vendor or amazon, then ugprade, but there must be more to it.

why are all these people willing to migrate to windows 10? perhaps because a new(er) wise(er) microsoft is just around to knock on the 21st century door, for more and more people who want and know better. perhaps. let's hope so, i for one am very optimistic!
