Re: cooperation?
Self-driving is going to end up being a very desirable feature in the car of the future.

Think about it: Imagine how much more time a person can spend on work/family/communications/leisure with the advent of a car that can do the work of a driver. Seems like a total slam dunk to me. Can't wait for this technology to be availabe in all cars.

Re: cooperation?
@Whoopty yes, to get tthere first and patent what they could, no doubt, though I do like the idea of cooperative efforts.

Re: cooperation?
In some cases there are. Baidu and BMW are working together and a lot of the companies use the same sensor manufacturers, so there must be some data sharing going on. However I think a lot of the big car companies see this as the next frontier, so want to be first there, preferably without one of their competitors in tow.

autopilot software
this software is really advanced. however, I want to know if this software can stop the car by itself? and if it can avoid other cars? and if we change the lanes, should we do it by ourselves?

cooperation?
Is there any cooperation between Tesla and other manufacturers working on driverless cars? If each one does not just work on its own to try to gain a competitive advanctage, they could pool information to solve some of the challenges together more efficiently.
