Indeed, the best approach, it seems to me, is to actively work with all departments to make sure they're supported if not internally, then through secure vendors.

IT still not understood
What's new.  IT has and continues to be perceived as an expensive operational cost that hinders profitability.

Little do they consider that profitability happens to run on the network, servers, applications and all of IT.

On this perspective, IT understands business, but business doesn't understand IT.

 

CIOs who understands the business and drives business strategies by leveraging IT will survive.  Others who leverage their CIO status to drive pet projects, will ultimately fail, but the most detrimental aspect is its contribution to the demise of a CIO.

Indeed, the nomenclature may stay the same, but the roles will shift as technology is overhauled and changed over the years. That's always the way with changing times.

Tag, both has to be complement each other. In modern word, without IT there is no business and without business there is NO IT too.
