Well, you can apply whatever is computed to the thing that is present in reality, so "augmented reality" seems a more appropriate moniker.

Mixed Reality
This reminds me a bit of Tesla's 3D modeling software that people can use at its dealerships.

The differentiator here is that this is using mixed reality, an underdog of emerging virtual reality technology. I think that mixed reality has some really interesting use cases for the near future, and may be even more promising near term than the longer term bet of virtual reality.
