Space and purpose

While I understand the attraction to phablets I still like my bigger tablet for entertainment. It's easier on the eyes and has more viewing space for movies and TV.

Did you see any reports of how the kindle tablets are faring in relation to the Galaxy and iPads? My daughter got one for Christmas and it has great capabilities at a great price.

Re: Space and purpose
@impact now. I agree with you. I saw people trying to read a book on a large smartphone.  The size of the tablet has to be just right to enjoy the material.  I'm interested to know that as well.  Samsung and Apple some tough competition from Amazon and Microsoft has launched their own tablets as well.  I friend of mine got a Microsoft tablet, the number of apps were limited.  It is good for reading books and watching online material, but not anything else.

Thanks to the price cuts to the 6 and 6S Holiday sales are boosting for Apple. This also predicts that the arrival of the 7 would be anytime soon.

@pedro: Kindle is the best thing to read books. It is dedicated for reading and it is the closest thing that comes to books. Obviously books still rule the world though.

Microsoft & Christmas
"More apps were downloaded on Christmas Day than any other day of the year" Is this what people do when are together in a family gathering?

"Microsoft's Nokia fell from 5.8% to 2% between 2014 and 2015" Isn't this sad? Hopefully the Surface Phone can change that.
And I agree with the tablet comments. Nothing beats a tablet for reading a book.

Re: Microsoft & Christmas
make63,

I don't look at the whole issue as its Unfortunate but rather the choice we as Families make every Christmas.

Do we chose to spend time with each other or poring our Smartphones?

That is entirely in our hands. Is'nt it?

My Mum has this simple rule-If you want to celebrate Christmas together then no smartphoen use at all.

But in all fairness to her;she makes all of us so busy with various festivities that nobody has any time to even look at their Smartphones.

LOL!!!

Nokia's Demise in the smartphone space(they continue to do reasonably well in the Feature-phone space with their heavy duty&Robust phones has a lot to do with the fact they missed the Whole App Ecosystem curve entirely.

I don't think there is going to be any coming back for them in this space today.

Impactnow,

Not only is the Kindle great for Multiple -Entertainment uses but its quite cheap too(vis a vis an iPad).

Lets say you accidentally break or lose one;it really does'nt hurt much .Does it?

That's why I always love mid-range Electronic Products. Not too cheap but definitely easy on the Pocketbook!

LOL!

Re: Space and purpose
SachinEE,

All the latest Inventory reports, etc I have seen say Apple is doing very poorly on the Global Market.

It seems their performance in Emerging Markets like India and China was so bad that they were forced to slash prices by close to 50%!

Can you imagine the kind of Margin their products have and also the fact that most Consumers know & realize that their margin on these over-priced Gadgets is too much?
