@SunitaT0: Tablets are great for educational apps, multimedia content, bedtime computing, in-car computing, and in field computing where desks are not available.

Re: Interesting
@nasimson: not really, since phones are nowadays phablets and since this gap is closing, I don't see why people would not have a mighty powerful phablet instead of a tablet with meekly specs.

Re: Interesting
@whoopty: why not make mighty powerful tablet with a tablet sized screen (instead of the recent ones sporting 9-10 inch screens) and make it a functionality based product and not a style statement? I find tablets really cumbersome and they don't have that edge laptops have.

Re: Interesting
@Whoopty: But for that to happen, first that technology should be used in office spaces and should be also public-friendly.

Re: Interesting
@Kstaron: I don't think Laptops will vanish in 5 to 10 years because unless tablet screens can be folded to become a touch keyboard and a second screen, I don't see why laptops would disappear. And most printers nowadays are going wireless so I don't see why people would use a laptop to connect to a printer at all.

Re: Interesting
Tablets have definitely found a place. you can hardly ask for a better mobile workstation for field employees and it's a great learning tool for students. But when you need something a little more either in terms of power, connecting to a printer, or space to put a real keyboard there's still call for a laptop which is probably why the convertibles are doing well. Make it a table  when you need mobility and a laptop when you need a full keyboard and such.

Do you think they can make the internet connection fast enough we can still get that wind blowing in our hair experience?

Re: Interesting
I agree to an extent, but I think augemented reality is going to remove the need for tablets almost altogether. Why have a device you have to carry around when you can digitally have it it appear next to you as and when you need it?

Re: Interesting
I think Tablets definitely have a future, but I am still 100% its in the workplace.  While adoption is up, there is still favor for devices that support keyboard and mouse.  The latest convertibles have definitely helped, but for me personally, there is still something about having a traditional laptop for work, and a tablet for browsing the internet on the couch.
