I agree, with the several times self driving cars in tests had to be reverted to manual to avoid an accident when tested in non city conditions, what will happen in the middle of London? Yes, someday they have to test in a city. I just hope it's not mine they use as the test city. Not until they have made those moments where self driving is worse than manual a lot fewer and far between.

I'm not hugely surprised by this one. The government in the UK has made it clear they are very interested in pursuing automated vehicles and even have a few trials set up around the country right now. They're not all cars, some are shuttles designed for students and shopping centres, but it's all progress.

Bring on Google's self-driving I say. Let's give it a try in a city that is not the easiest to drive in. That will really test it.

I am a little bit uncomfortable about this - can the auto-drive car deal with the complexity of city traffic? How about if there is accident? This product has never been tested on the big city like London.
