Driverless cars are nothing new to the consumer market and having auto giants joining in the bandwagon is rather expected to stay on par with fellow competitors of the industry. BMW has all the resources they need including materials and finances, but that does not mean that they can produce results almost immediately. Proper planning still needs to be put in place.

Hmmmm?
I know BMW makes more than just sports cars but the idea of a self driving sports car is silly. I bought my 2004 M3 Convertible to drive it, it's a blast. I'd have no desire to have it drive me.

I've always prefered driving to just riding, gives you something to do. But possible I'm in a small minority, I guess.
