Technorati, yes, that is a problem. It doesn't sound like it's the right time to bring this up to your boss. You'll think of something. :) Since now it's spring, planting seeds sounds just right. -Susan

Re: Very bad numbers for salaries
@tomJ956- The numbers are self-reported. Remember that San Francisco salaries are higher because of the competition and expenses of living in SF. The median salaries are goign to be lower because there is data coming in from Iowa and North Dakota and other lower cost, lower competition areas.

Very bad numbers for salaries
I have no idea where these number come from, maybe taking the lowest possible income for a given tittle?

These numbers need to be adjusted for todays pay rate, they are all about 35% too low.

A programmer in San Francisco is not going to get anytinbg less then $150K salary, a amanger is going to be in the $200K range.

I see this as another attempt to lower salaries in the industry!

@David    Awh Shucks ! : )     Some interesting points you make about Medicine today.   I agree. For simple test - one really does not need to actually see a Doctor, not to mention the major amount of time saved in actually going to the Doctor's office, waiting ...etc.

I have not been to a Doctor in a long time fortunately, but a former colleague of mine really liked his experience with Kasier's new tech platform. So when the time comes, I am sure I will be very surprised about the advances in healthcare from a tech perspective.

Re: Tech Jobs and Pay: Encouraging News for Those In The Trenches
@Susan   That is a great idea!  Now I have to figure out how to pull it off.  : )   But there is another aspect I didn't mention - massive layoffs at my present locale.

So talking about about "market value compensation" might not be the best topic to bring up right now.   But at least I can "plant the seeds" for when the robust times return.

I downloaded Doctor on Demand -- I haven't used it yet, but it looked interesting. I know there are others. This one seemed to have a wide range or services and some well credentialed people.

Is anyone out there using these apps? I suspect the Pediatric service gets some traffic, but don't know for sure

Technorati,

It's useful to see this kind of list, indeed. If you are not making the money listed for the position you are holding, maybe in a friendly manner you could send this story to your boss as something interesting to read to stay updated? :)
