Open Source
Software subscription / support often cost more then outright purchase.

If you buy abc software, you're entitle a certain period of support free and lifetime usage.

You buy a subscription(open source) app, you have to pay every month. The moment you stop paying, the software may not work anymore.

"Stealing customers"
The phrase has long bothered me as it implies that customers are property instead of free agents entitled to buy from whomever will sell to them.  It is even commonplace for people to patronize one or more rival firms at the same time.

If I buy something from a given firm, that makes me a customer, not a vassal and the vendor a supplier, not my liege lord.  And how long I remain a customer is entirely up to me, at least once the contract has expired.
