I think sales is a clear cut place for tablets -- they're a much better one-on-one communication tool. Companies are finding they need to customize content and apps for tablets, though.

Video is one area I've heard a few companies say they're using tablets -- ad hoc video and videoconferencing especially. Such as a warehouse employee sending a quick video to the buyer to say "Does this material look right, or should I reject it and send it back?" Or quick videoconferencing between two people. Yes, all possible before, but with a tablet people actually do it. We'll see, a lot of experiments going on right now.

Great article enumerating some of the pitfalls that innovation can create. However, I still have a hard time with the last one. Although I am from a manufacturing field, I struggle to find legitimate uses for a tablet in the enterprise. I am hoping that implementing some Surface Pros in the organization will open up uses that I hadn't thought of before.

One point in this article was very true - give people technology and you'll be amazed how they use it. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's very bad. You just have to roll with the punches.
