I think this is a good example of why the cheapest EHR may actually be the most expensive, in terms of compliance. It's important to forecast the requirements of MU before moving over to an EHR system to ensure you're covered. If you perhaps chose one of the EHR systems without a web portal or a way to easily give patients records, you're now left to build that out yourself or switch to an EHR system that does.

I don't see how the health industry is going to fully adapt to digital medical records, without have a standardization or industry standard protocol. The sensible thing to do would be to invest in the design and implementation of such standards, making the health industries current issues with health records fall waist side and non-existent. In addition 5%, I have not done any research in this area, but shear curiosity would make me check out my medical records because I can. I think a large majority of people would also scratch that curiosity itch with me. Are there any industry protocols currently in the pipeline to be released?
