re: The Education Lab Inside My House
The theory is they can work one virtual course into their schedule, even if they have to attend class from a media lab at the library. But I know there are those who question the practicality of that, or the level of technology and technical support provided in every school (not to mention the budgetary impact)

re: The Education Lab Inside My House
It's interesting that Florida legislature now mandates all high school students to take at least one virtual class prior to graduation. I wonder if that will extend to other states, and also if it can truly take on in families where parents aren't so supportive of their children's education. It seems like virtual learning at a middle school or high school level really does require a particular type of home support that might not be that widely available to many students.

re: The Education Lab Inside My House
For those who say online education -- whether at the elementary, secondary or college level -- will never take off, consider what principal Christopher McGuire told Dave Carr: Virtual schools aren't THE future. No technology-based innovation is ever THE future. But online alternatives will become a much bigger part of the education system and experience.

The family is subject to some bouts of cabin fever, between work at home parents and study at home kids. Too much "togetherness"

Fascinating, thanks for sharing your personal experience, David. When you think about how much time we all spend doing virtual work -- you and I work with each other from half a country away, with much of our interaction digital -- their school experience shares similarities with many of my work days. (I don't get that occasional trip to Disney, though.)
