Fascinating stuff. Silicon Valley is what it is today because of access to capital. Without these risk takers, you wouldn't see Googles and Facebooks turning into giants within 10 short years. The power would be in the hands of incumbents, and competition and innovation would suffer. We're seeing the next round with new data platforms (and the startups promoting them) making inroads on expensive relational database management systems. Here's to General Doriot!
