I'm surprised that health insurers aren't paying for home monitoring on a wide scale yet, but I expect that to change very soon. The benefits to the insurer of getting more data on customers' health habits are too vast to to ignore. But there is a bit of a minefield to navigate around privacy before they'll be able to fully embrace it, I'm sure.

I agree one of the main barriers to the nationwide acceptance of mhealth apps is going to be the providers themselves. With everything going on with EHR systems and MU attestations, it seems that providers are overloaded with information and changes. I just donG«÷t see them looking at these new methods of collecting information if they are not properly incentivized.
