re: Leapfrog Counsels Employers On Medical Error Costs
I like that Leapfrog has developed this calculator and is rating the hospitals according to their effectiveness when treating patients and the hidden costs associated with the hospital visits for employers. I think that by holding hospitals accountable for high readmission rates, they in turn make the hospitals want to perform better, and therefore bring up the quality of care. Of course there are plenty of other factors to take into account such as a high risk job, but it is a good start.
