You get the sense that the bar is really high at many companies for bringing in any big new software platform on-premises. Is there no cloud option, is there a data security/control concern, is there a tough integration challenge that cloud can't overcome? An advocate for a new on-premises options is going to face a lot of questions.

One "oh by the way" here at OOW 2013: Many Oracle apps have yet to be certified to run on Oracle Database 12c. In fact, Fusion cloud apps aren't yet running on 12c.The 12c in-memory option touted here Sunday night won't be released until some time in calendar year 2014. The realities of deployment are much slower than the speed of announcemens.
