re: Windows Phone: No Where To Go But Up?
Lets just assume Windows 8 is great. Plenty of reasons not to assume that will be the case, but for the sake of argument. What smartphone hardware manufacturer is going to be so foolish as to partner with Microsoft? Why ship the lion's share of the profits to Microsoft when they can just use their own Android distro or create their own operating system? Microsoft depended on their monopoly to force the PC hardware manufacturers to go along. The smartphone manufacturers are in no hurry to be in the same place as the PC manufacturers.

It's fairly simple math really:

Poor Windows 7 Phone sales
+
Steve Ballmer's concedes the device isn't doing so great
=
Rocky future.
