re: Cisco CEO: Internet Of Things Will Reshape IT
I think there is a lot David. IT leaders need to think about the opportunity from connected devices on two levels -- whether it creates a new opportunity to build a tie to my customer (like this hospital example) and whether it creates the chance to gather a new data source that I didn't have before (like the gas well example I link to). I think the Internet of Things is one of the single most important trends IT leaders in a lot of industries need to be thinking about, and that it's a colossal mistake for a business leader to dismiss this as nothing more than a marketing message from Cisco.

re: Cisco CEO: Internet Of Things Will Reshape IT
We've been hearing about the Internet of things for many years, notably from folks like Vint Cerf...and all those who knew we were running out of IP addresses and pushed for IPv6. What sounds new is the significant economic value all those IP-enabled things are starting to generate. Chambers is better than average in sensing where the money is and turning that sense into a business case (albeit one that puts Cisco behind home plate. )

Any practical advice in there, other than "buy more Cisco products"?
