I think the mobile malware threat has been overblown but nonetheless, Apple's walled garden model is more reassuring than Google's CDC-like approach.

It may be somewhat overblown, but it's definitely not completely overblown. It's a problem.

I've also seen stats that like 90% of smartphone users have a few dozen apps in active use, at most, and the majority of them are high profile -- Twitter, Facebook, Candy Crush. That has to play into the low infection rates.
