A big part of this goes to thoroughly reviewing the SLA with counsel and proposing changes as necessary. After all, it's a contract -- with duties and obligations owed by both sides.

Many cloud providers are not trying to be the boss. They're trying to get their customers to effectively manage their use of the cloud infrastructure. Not everyone understood that at first with Amazon Web Services. Some learning required. The IT manager needs to understand the resource in order to deliver the sought-after customer experience.
